As you are aware, two wildfires are burning in central Colorado; the Royal Gorge Fire and the Black Forest Fire. These fires are located southwest and northeast respectively from Colorado Springs. Allied’s catastrophe response plan has been activated, and we are serving our members. This communication will provide a brief overview of our response to this event.

All claims reported at this time are Homeowner claims from the Black Forest Fire. The reported claims are for expenses associated with evacuations as well as structural damages. Several of the structural damage claims have the potential to be total losses once the evacuation orders are lifted and the damage can be inspected. We are taking full advantage of the many resources and services available within the Western Claims Zone as well as Allied / Nationwide corporate catastrophe response resources. A mobile Catastrophe Response Unit has been deployed and will arrive in Colorado Springs late Friday. This unit will provide an excellent visible presence and serve as a base for humanitarian aid and member assistance.

Claims professionals have been deployed to assist impacted members with Additional Living Expense claims during the evacuations and will conduct inspections as needed once the evacuation orders are lifted and local authorities grant access. Phone CAT teams have been formed and are proactively contacting members and agencies in all affected areas of CO. These teams are answering questions, assisting with claim filing and providing assistance with temporary living needs if required from the evacuations.
